Cleopatra Loves Books is One Year Old Today

PicMonkey Collage

After debating whether or not to start a blog to hold my book reviews I finally got going one year ago today so I thought it would be nice to do a post to celebrate.

Although I’d been writing reviews for some time I like to think that those posted on my blog have more to say about what I have enjoyed or not enjoyed in a book.  My reviews are written with the aim of giving my readers enough information to decide if a book is for them with absolutely no spoilers.

I love receiving all your comments, the book blogging community were so welcoming and over time I have found others who share my love good books,  Here is a very small sample of those I admire:

FictionFan’s Book Reviews

Confessions of a Mystery Novelist

Rebecca Bradley

Raven Crime Reads

Clothes in Books

Musings From a Bookmammal

The Games Afoot

This is a very short list but I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who converse with me and of course for recommending even more great books for me to read.

I have a thing about data and whilst I prefer to have comments on my reviews, after all connecting with other book lovers is partly why I started to blog, I do like to check my stats. It is always pleasing to see how many visits my latest post has got but I also get great pleasure out of seeing people visiting my reviews after they have been up for a while.

  1. Cannot believe you’ve only been blogging for a year! Your site looks fantastic, you’ve got a great following – in fact, you’re my favourite blogger as I love your reviews: your tastes are fairly close to mine, and with you I never have long to wait for a review as you are THE most voracious reader!
    HAPPY BLOGGING BIRTHDAY CLEO!

    1. Thank you, what a lovely thing to say. That’s one of the things I love about blogging as it exposes me to books that I might be completely oblivious to so it is great to hear others enthusing over them.

  3. Happy Blogging Birthday!
My own blog turns one year old in exactly 1 week, and I had no idea when you and I “met” a year ago that your blog was only a week older than my own! Thank you for the kind mention–and I look forward to reading, enjoying, and exchanging thoughts on MANY MORE of your posts!

  4. Happy Birthday!!!! And thank you so much for the kind mention… 😀

I can’t believe you’re only one! When we ‘met’, I’m sure I thought you were a long-established blogger and I was the newbie. Well, you’ve made a huge mark on the blogosphere in a short time, Cleo, and become one of my most trusted advisers (or peskiest temptresses, depending on my mood 😉 ).Your reviews always hit that difficult balance between honesty and generosity. Here’s to many more years, many more books and plenty of chocolate!

    1. Thank you for your very kind words. I had to include your blog as your reviews always entertain me even when they are for books that I have no interest in reading. Oh yes books and chocolate is the perfect combination and to seeing how high the TBRs can get!

    1. Thank you Cheryl. Yes now it is less about the number of visitors but seeing which reviews people like which I guess are the books most people are considering buying I think I can conclude there is a definite correlation between those books I like and the number of views the post receives.. although there are a few exceptions. Plus I love data and my job doesn’t really include analysis anymore 🙂

  7. Happy belated blog birthday! Showcasing popular reviews is a great way to mark the date. I like checking the stats too (I’m a numbers girl!) and it’s only that combined with the comments that give you the overall picture. You’ve reviewed some great books, including lots on my to read list.
Hope the next 12 months are just as successful for you 🙂
