5*’s
This morning, I found a body.
Soon the police will arrest me for murder.
And after that my life will fall apart.
A must read for 2013 for anyone out there that loves a good whodunit. Gaby Mortimer, the female half of Mornin’ All’s daytime television programme, finds a body on one early morning run. She calls the police, gives a statement, goes home and gets ready for work. Over the next few days more details and evidence are found by DI Perivale which appears to tie Gaby to the dead young woman, Ania Dudek, evidence that Gaby can’t explain.
This book is firmly set in today’s world, Gaby’s job as a minor celebratory means that the journalists have a field day with their play on words and opportune photos. Gaby is courted by these journalists, her job seems to be in danger with her seat on the sofa is waiting to be taken by a younger ambitious colleague and Gaby’s super successful husband Philip has to leave her side to do something very important abroad. Gaby realises she has no local friends and quickly becomes isolated and frightened as the Police and a stalker pursue her.
This book has a fantastic ending; I thought I had it all sewn up, but there was a final twist that caught me out.
I received this book through the Amazon Vine Programme.
