Hosted by Lipsy Lost & Found my Wednesday post gives you a taste of what I am reading this week. A similar meme is run by Taking on a World of Words
I am currently reading the latest novel by Peter May, I’ll Keep You Safe, which like the Lewis Trilogy is set in part on the Outer Hebrides and will be published on 11 January 2018.

WHATEVER HAPPENS
Niamh and Ruairidh Macfarlane co-own the Hebridean company Ranish Tweed. On a business trip to Paris to promote their luxury brand, Niamh learns of Ruairidh’s affair, and then looks on as he and his lover are killed by a car bomb. She returns home to Lewis, bereft.
I’LL ALWAYS BE THERE FOR YOU
Niamh begins to look back on her life with Ruairidh, desperate to identify anyone who may have held a grudge against him. The French police, meanwhile, have ruled out terrorism, and ruled in murder – and sent Detective Sylvie Braque to shadow their prime suspect: Niamh.
I’LL KEEP YOU SAFE, NO MATTER WHAT
As one woman works back through her memories, and the other moves forward with her investigation, the two draw ever closer to a deadly enemy with their own, murderous, designs. Amazon
The last book I finished was the thirteenth in the Hercule Poirot series; The A.B.C. Murders by Agatha Christie in keeping with my vow to read more of my own books in 2018.

Agatha Christie’s world-famous serial killer mystery.
There’s a serial killer on the loose, bent on working his way through the alphabet. And as a macabre calling card he leaves beside each victim’s corpe the ABC Railway Guide open at the name of the town where the murder has taken place.
Having begun with Andover, Bexhill and then Churston, there seems little chance of the murderer being caught – until he makes the crucial and vain mistake of challenging Hercule Poirot to frustrate his plans… Amazon
Next, I will be reading Turning for Home by Barney Norris, which after the pleasure of Five River Met on a Wooded Plain, I’m really looking forward to.

‘Isn’t the life of any person made up out of the telling of two tales, after all? People live in the space between the realities of their lives and the hopes they have for them. The whole world makes more sense if you remember that everyone has two lives, their real lives and their dreams, both stories only a tape’s breadth apart from each other, impossibly divided, indivisibly close.’Every year, Robert’s family come together at a rambling old house to celebrate his birthday. Aunts, uncles, distant cousins – it has been a milestone in their lives for decades. But this year Robert doesn’t want to be reminded of what has happened since they last met – and neither, for quite different reasons, does his granddaughter Kate. Neither of them is sure they can face the party. But for both Robert and Kate, it may become the most important gathering of all. Amazon

I highly recommend The Lewis Trilogy which are firm favourite reads of mine despite having discovered them some time back now. Thanks for visiting – I did leave a comment earlier but tech obviously let me down so came back to do another now.

I’ve read The A B C Murders a while ago – I thought it was very good. I’ll Keep You Safe looks great – I’ve enjoyed Peter May’s books so this one does tempt me. And my next book is also Turning for Home. Happy reading.

I’m just about to start the Peter May – fingers crossed! And I love The ABC Murders and re-read it recently – re-listened actually. So I only have to resist temptation once this week… 🙂

I’ll be interested to hear what you make of I’ll Keep You Safe and of course Agatha Christie is always a safe bet which is why I started my reading my own books with her (plus I have quite a collection of her books to choose from now)

Oh, I hope you’ll enjoy the May, Cleo. I want to read that one, too, and I look forward to hearing what you think of it. And, of course, I’m a fan of the Christie. It sounds like a good reading week for you, and I’m glad for that.

Your link is not working for me. It has been a long time since I read Agatha Christie. There are so many good books being released I have been neglecting my old favorites. Link today

Agatha Christie is always great. I took my vow one step further this 2018… I am on a book buying ban! So far so good… Thankfully ARCs and book club picks not available at the library don’t count! Here’s my WWW: https://reachingwhilerooted.com/2018/01/03/www-wednesday-01-03-18/

You are far braver than me. I knew I wouldn’t stick to an outright ban but hopefully this will keep me reading my own books (as well as some ARCs) with the incentive that I can buy one for every three I read.

I’ve got so many Marple’s and Poirot’s of my own on my TBR, and like you, need to prioritise my own books for the coming year.

I want to read more of my own books this year too. I still need to read The A.B.C. Murders; pretty sure I got an e-book of it for pretty cheap a couple years ago.

I read too few books in 2017, so I need to up my reading game. Adding the Peter May book to my TBR, because it sounds like a pacy read!
I think I’m going to read a slow, thoughtful book each week, and pair it with a fast crime or spec-fic to keep my count ticking along.

What did you think of the ABC murders? I’ve heard such great things about it, I may break my habit of only reading new stuff to pick it up!

I did badly on “read(ing) more of my own books” in 2017 but I’m going to persist in 2018. Not exactly a cakewalk.

Since I’ve decided to read more of my own books, I’ve had lots of new additions to my collection, it’s scary! The fear of running out of books hasn’t left, I guess! But I definitely need to cut back on buying! Happy reading!
