Hosted by Lipsyy Lost & Found my Wednesday post gives you a taste of what I am reading this week. A similar meme is run by Taking on a World of Words
My current read is one for my Mount TBR challenge The Cipher Garden by Martin Edwards the second in the Lake District Mystery series. I purchased this one in December 2015 and having really enjoyed the first in this series, The Coffin Trail, last month I think I’m in for a treat.
Blurb
I thought you were dead…’
In the peaceful village of Old Sawrey, in the idyllic Lake District, Warren Howe is brutally slaughtered with his own scythe by a mysterious hooded figure. The police have several suspects, but there is insufficient evidence to make an arrest.
Years later an anonymous tip-off sparks the interest of DCI Hannah Scarlett, who heads the local Cold Case Review Team. With the help of historian Daniel Kind, Hannah digs deeper in the quest for truth and discovers that, in Old Sawrey, old sins cast long shadows. Following the killer’s trail, Hannah arrives at a shocking conclusion, one that will change lives forever. Amazon
I have just finished the excellent, gripping, page-turning extravaganza which was Her Husband’s Lover by Julia Crouch – my proper review will follow shortly!
Please see yesterday’s post for an excerpt and the synopsis.
Next up is a book which has caused great interest amongst the early readers on twitter; Behind Her Eyes by Sarah Pinborough and comes complete with the hashtag #WTFthatending
Only two can keep a secret if one of them is dead.
David and Adele seem like the ideal pair. He’s a successful psychiatrist, she is his picture-perfect wife who adores him. But why is he so controlling? And why is she keeping things hidden?
As Louise, David’s new secretary, is drawn into their orbit, she uncovers more puzzling questions than answers. The only thing that is crystal clear is that something in this marriage is very, very wrong. But Louise can’t guess how wrong–and how far a person might go to protect their marriage’s secrets. So that’s what I’m reading this week – what have you chosen? Do let me know in the comments box below.
I like Julia Crouch! I really must look into this book! Happy reading Cleo!

Which one should I choose for my own list as they all sound great – Can’t decide, so I guess it will have to be all three 🙂
Enjoy your reading and thanks for the introductions.

I’m actually reading Behind Her Eyes right now and enjoying more than I expected. It gets a lot of rave reviews which always makes me suspicious but so far so good.

Good to know – the hype is difficult to judge as I’ve found they are generally enjoyable reads, the problem comes with the huge expectation it generates in the reader – Looking forward to this one.

I’ve read the last two, but I was “disappointed” haha Too Much hype!

The Cipher Garden is the one that appeals most this week – but I still haven’t got around to reading The Coffin Trail! Somehow I have to read more… I wonder if I could get my eyes to operate independently…

That would be a sneaky trick and I’m just imagining a mash up of Pride and Prejudice and Animal Farm!

Great picks – I really enjoyed Behind Her Eyes although I was worried it wouldn’t live up to the hype, so will be interested to see what you think of it! Here’s my WWW post: https://snazzybooks.com/2017/01/18/www-wednesday-18-january-2017/

The theme of hype is making me smile as I know it is started by the publishers but in essence each of us reading the book before the review date is adding to it – we are the hype! I’m looking forward to it, the reviews have been fairly positive… Thanks for visiting and leaving your link

Exactly haha it’s all such ‘planned’ hype in a way, but I think this was a good ‘un! 😃

The husband/ wife dynamic of Behind Her Eyes reminds me of Before I Go to Sleep. I wonder what could happen in the end to make it have that hashtag!

I had to get a copy just to find out if the book was worthy of the hashtag!

You know, I can understand why they do it from the marketing point of view, but the hashtag #WTFthatending both sets up your expectations too high and also makes perverse crime readers like myself determined to guess things ahead of time, so I end up not paying enough attention to the actual book.
For the first time ever, I am participating in this as well although I’ve overextended myself a little and may be reading all that for weeks…

I know exactly what you mean Marina – fortunately I usually have forgotten all the marketing by the time I read the book and I just dive in – that works best for me. It’s slightly different with the hashtag though because it really is hard to forget it. Loved your first foray into this meme

So last night I finished The Ninth Rain which is Jen Williams new book, she’s my favourite author right now so I’m equal parts happy and gutted that I’ve read and finished it. Today I’m starting The Food of Love by Amanda Prowse. I needed a book that wasn’t a heavy fantasy having just read two really heavy and looooong ones in a row!

Oh you sound like me, I long for a new books and then I get all sad when I finish it. Always good to have a change of genre I think.

I’ve read the first book in Martin Edwards’ series and need to go on with it. I own THE CIPHER GARDEN somewhere – Kindle probably. I’ve preordered BEHIND HER EYES on audio and look forward to that one.

I do like this series but I only bought one and two and since I’m trying to reduce the TBR I’m not sure reading the next book in the series is the right way to go about it! I hope you enjoy Behind Her Eyes.

So glad you’re continuing on with the Lake District series, Cleo. I think it’s such an excellent series, and has some wonderful characters. And I do love the past/present connections in the novels.

I really liked the style of writing, and the past/present connection in The Coffin Trail and The Cipher Garden seems to be equally engaging.

So far this week I’ve finished In Her Wake which I loved. I’m waiting on Sirens to arrive but in the meantime I’ll probably start Right Behind You by Lisa Gardner. I’ve read Behind Her Eyes and it wasn’t a hit for me. I’m in the minority I know, I’m very interested in hearing your thoughts on it.
