The Woman in Cabin 10 by the talented Ruth Ware tells the tale of Lo Blacklock who is on the trip of a lifetime to see the Northern Lights as a perk of her job as a travel journalist. Just before she was due to leave on the trip Lo’s home was broken into while she was there, she’s justifiably traumatised so when she thinks she witnesses a murder while on board the boat, she’s not sure what to believe. Is she on board with a murderer or has she imagined it?

You have a some great choices this week, a couple of which I have already bookmarked, although I am not too sure about ‘Ward Zero’.
I have an inherent fear of anything hospital or doctor related, so this premise sounds like it would be my worst nightmare!

I’ve been reading Peter Swanson’s new book – to be published here in January – HER EVERY FEAR. I’m liking it so far, maybe not quite as much as THE KIND WORTH KILLING, but I’ve still got almost half the book left. We shall see.
Am interested in the Ruth Ware book, which I own, and which I’ll read soon. Next up for me is likely Karin Slaughter’s new book and I’m also excited for Tana French’s new one.

🙂 I think there is a wicked book fairy around distributing books and denting the willpower; I seem to have been given ARCs, won prizes and then there is the one or two I may have requested and now the TBR has gone mental!!

Very crimey ones this week, Cleo! I too have A Deadly Thaw on my list, but who knows when I’ll get round to it?
I’ve just finished Fallada’s Alone in Berlin, which is quite disturbing in its descriptions of Nazi suppression. I’m currently reading Romain Gary’s Promise at Dawn, which is an autobiography of sorts and simply stunning in its description of motherly love. Next up is either Louise Beech’s Mountain in My Shoe or Zygmunt Miloszewski’s Rage – very different, but equally dark I think.

I’ve had a bad week with thrillers (S J Watson’s Second Life – dire) so I’ll be giving the genre a rest for a while and return to the safety of my favourite kinds of contemporary-lit relationship stories!
