I saw this featured on Books Please earlier this week and it looks like a good way to summarise the first six months of reading of the year. This meme originates from Jo at The Book Jotter. The aim is to sort your reads into six categories – you can choose from the ones Jo suggests or come up with your own. The same book can obviously feature in more than one category.

I really like this way of summing up one’s reading, Cleo. And you’ve had some good reads thus far! I’ve had Burial Rites on my radar for a very long time, and still haven’t got to it, I’m ashamed to say. I appreciate the reiminder.

Burial Rites had been on my kindle for a while before I picked it up, but I am so glad I did, not a book I’m likely to forget in a hurry.

Great lists – we actually have more crossover in our reading than it sometimes seems. Glad to see Burial Rites and Pictures of Perfection up there in books you loved, and of course both the Peter May and Daisy in Chains would make any list of mine too. And even three factual books shared this year – Mrs Maybrick, The Secret Poisoner and The Wicked Boy! And next year maybe you’ll have a list of Six Great Sci-Fi books… 😉

I was surprised at how many of my favourite books actually come from my ‘own’ collection this year. Pictures of Perfection has been my top favourite out of my summer reads so far although Dr Adams came a close second. Haha maybe I will 😉

It would be fun to take part….so maybe I will! I see some on your lists that I’ve loved, too, like No One Knows, The Ex, The Widow, and The Lake House. Your mention of the Elly Griffiths book reminds me that I need to grab the next one in the series, which will be Book Two. I’m not very far into the series, but I enjoyed the first book. Thanks for sharing.

Great list. I have been recommended Burial Rites so many times that I have lost count. I hope I will pick it up soon. Did you like My name is Lucy Barton? I didnt enjoy it much and thought it was too short

I loved Burial Rites and it had lingered on my kindle for a while before I read it – I can’t recommend it enough. I enjoyed My Name is Lucy Barton although I understand what you mean about the length.

What a great way to look back. Not sure what I’d pick so will need to give it some thought. It has reminded me of some of the books I have seen you recommend that I wanted to read.

Some great choices on there and a really interesting way of looking at what you’ve read. Makes me realise that all my recent reading has been part of a series. Going to look out some standalone for a change I think.

I do like looking back over my reading and I think this meme really gave me the chance to see what has worked for me this year. I’ve read a fair few from series this year too although I do enjoy a good standalone.
