Me too – can’t help noticing you’re enjoying more “cosy” books and less gruesome crime since the clocks changed – don’t know if it’s a coincidence or deliberate??!

Haha – I’m not quite sure why there has been the change but I’m sure it won’t take long before I’m back to the murder and mayhem although I do enjoy a change every now and again.

I’m still struggling with a virus so that is exactly how I’m spending my evening at the moment, very comforting to read something gentle 🙂

Interlude sounds the one that I would be most inclined to read. i’ve just abandoned my book Our Lady of Alice Bhatti by Mohammed Hanif (author of the Exploding Mangoes). I didn’t like the comic tone. So now I’m in the mood for something more robust

Sounds like a change of pace from your usual reading, Cleo!
I’m currently reading a short story collection by Bernhard Schlink and have just finished short stories by Alois Hotschnig for German Literature Month (so a change of pace for me too). My next read, however, takes me back to crime fiction: Janet O’Kane’s ‘No Stranger to Death’.

Thank you but you really don’t need to be in awe of me. Long years in academia do not make a person any brighter than other people – and I’ve had the colleagues to prove that in academia as well there are the good, the bad and the ugly… I was also fortunate enough to grow up in Vienna, so spoke German from an early age – no merit of mine, I assure you!

Yes a total change of pace at the moment but no doubt I’ll get back to the normal genre before too long although I do like a change every now and again. 😉

Cleo – You’ve got interesting choices this week! I’ll be especially interested in what you make of Interlude. I have to admit; I’ve a soft spot for stories that make credible use of those buried family secrets…

I do love family secrets as there are so many possibilities/directions for the story to go with them. I’m not sure quite what to expect from this one but that’s half the fun sometimes.
