Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
My teaser this week is from The Whispers by Lisa Unger
It’s a day like any other for Eloise Montgomery–until tragedy strikes. While she is recovering from a horrible accident that takes the lives of her husband and oldest daughter, and as she works to help her younger daughter move forward, Eloise experiences her first psychic vision. Though she struggles to understand her newfound gifts, Eloise finds a way use them to save lost women and girls–for whom her help may be the only way out…Amazon
My Teaser
“How are my beautiful girls this morning,” said Alfie,” entering the room like sunlight. And, each of them like heliotropes, turned to face him with a smile.
Alfie was the favourite parent and always had been. He was the tree-climber, the player of “dangerous tricks,” the storyteller, the tear dryer, the bear-hugger. He was the nightmare slayer, the surprise party thrower Oh how they all adored him.
Taken from just a couple of pages into the story, what do you think? Want to know more?
Please share your teasers in the comments box below!
What an appealing dad! I’d read more to find out about him and his family. But after reading the blurb, I’m afraid he’s the person who’s killed in the accident. Sounds like the book could be very sad.
My Tuesday post features THE LITTLEST COWBOY.

Thanks for leaving your link Sandra – it is sad because this description illustrates how wonderful he was!

He sounds a bit to perfect. A bit sickly for me. The favourite parent? Mmm.

Yes not so good if you are not the favourite!

Sounds a bit like If I Stay and i loved that book. My teaser has a twist this week. No authors name and no book title.

Cleo – Just the term favourite parent makes me think about the family dynamics in the story. Thanks for sharing.

Good point Margot – I am sure that family dynamics play a large part in how we turn out depends on the parent we most identify with (which may or may not be the favourite)

Funny how there’s always the “fun” parent … is he responsible? Sounds like an interesting read, but maybe not something I’d go for.

He actually doesn’t appear for long. I don’t usually give this genre much space but as this was a novella I decided to branch out… Thanks for visiting 🙂

I’d read on to see if Eloise succeeds.

Thanks for visiting back – I have this one and the next to read which I chose because I read In The Blood earlier this year and loved it.

I think she killed him because he was so sickeningly nice! I’d be willing to give her a false alibi… 😉

😆 I think I can tell a lot from the visitors from their comments about this man who incidentally, only lives for a couple more pages! Off the record I’m with you, he sounds far too perfect and if I was the other parent to this man he wouldn’t have lasted long at all.

This novella (which is part 1 of 3) is quite different to the previous full-length book I read by Lisa Unger but I now know I really like her writing style.
