Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.
My Teaser this week is from The Mysterious Affair at Castaway House by Stephanie Lam
Blurb
It’s 1965 and eighteen year-old Rosie Churchill has run away to the beautiful but run-down Castaway House in the seaside town of Helmstone. But when she uncovers a scandal locked away in the walls of the old house, she soon comes to realise that neither her own troubled past nor that of the house will stay buried for long. . .
In 1924 fresh-faced Robert Carver comes to Castaway House to spend a languid summer in the company of his much wealthier cousin, Alec Bray. But the Brays are a damaged family, with damaging secrets. And little does Robert know that his world is about to change for ever.
As Rosie begins to learn more about Robert, the further she is drawn into the mysterious history of the house, and their stories, old and new, entwine. NetGalley
My Teaser
‘He’s such a terrible snob,’ she had said, her voice salty with pleasure. ‘Viviane too, of course. They thought you were beyond the pale. Heaven knows what they must make of the whole thing’
The you in question was my father, sitting in his chair in the parlour with his pipe clamped between his teeth.
As usual, another fabulous sounding teaser 🙂

I haven’t read an enormous amount but it has really drawn me in precisely because the characters are brilliantly drawn. Thanks for leaving your link.

Cleo – This most definitely sounds intriguing to me. As you know, I do like that past/present connection. And this one sounds well written too.

This was one of those picks which I was unsure about but even though I haven’t read a great deal I am loving it – interesting time period choices too with some fantastic characters – early signs are good 🙂

Not sure about that one. I seem to be in an anti-youth phase just now, lol.

I have to say this has been a bit of a surprise as I wasn’t sure but I’m really enjoying it – probably not a good idea for the anti-youth phase though. Thanks for leaving your link to your interesting choice.

Thanks. I’ll keep it in mind for later after this phase has passed.

I enjoy books with two stories that eventually come together, especially if they’re set in different times. This sounds like a book I should read.
My Tuesday post features The Gods of Second Chances.

I’m not too far in but so far I’m really enjoying it. Unlike my last read, The Sea Garden, this is told in the more traditional format of alternating chapters and both have got my attention.

Sounds interesting. Not sure it’s one I’d read, but thank goodness there are books for every reader! My teaser this week is from Jackaby by William Ritter

This sounds really fun! I love the cover as well. Imagine being able to run away to a run-down beach house! And I love how the author is combining two different time periods. I might have to search this one out on Netgalley! Thanks for sharing 🙂 hope you have a great week!

I’m intrigued (as usual) to see your review of this one – because, being honest, the teaser actually put me off a bit this week. ‘her voice salty with pleasure’ – nope, just can’t for the life of me imagine what that means…or sounds like. You’ll need to give it 5-stars and a positively glowing reference to win me back over… 😉
