Teaser Tuesday (May 13)

Teasing Tuesday CB

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

• Grab your current read

• Open to a random page

• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page

their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)

• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to

My Teaser this week is from The Broken by Tamar Cohen. This is the author’s first foray into psychological suspense and it is a gripping tale.

The Broken

Best friends tell you everything; about their kitchen renovation; about their little girl’s schooling. How one of them is leaving the other for a younger model.
Best friends don’t tell lies. They don’t take up residence on your couch for weeks. They don’t call lawyers. They don’t make you choose sides.
Best friends don’t keep secrets about their past. They don’t put you in danger.
Best friends don’t always stay best friends. NetGalley

My Teaser

Dan shrugged. ‘Yeah, yeah. But you can’t blame her for her name.’
Josh found it hard to unstretch his eyes from their Are you fucking kidding me? expression. Of course. She would be called Sienna. Dan couldn’t possibly have fallen for a Cathy or Melanie or Ruth. ‘And how old exactly is Sienna?’

Please leave me your link to your Teaser Tuesday or with any other comments you would like to make on my latest read.

    1. Thank you Nish – I loved Tamar Cohen’s first book The Mistresses Revenge as much for the writing style as the plot and this turn to the darker side of life is compulsive reading. I have another of hers to read soon as well; Someone Else’s Wedding! Review will be posted soon 🙂

      1. There are some names that I completely dislike and think “poor person” when I hear it, and I have been known to shoot my mouth off and say “what did your parents not like you?” before I could stop myself.

I was with my daughter heading to one of her reviews and there was a boy at the bottom of the road to the school. She said hello and stuff that kids say, and afterwards I asked who it was. She said “Quinton”. I repeated it incredulously and said “Well at least it isn’t Quentin”. Her response was “That’s what I said!” Whoops.

        1. Brilliant! I always think of girls names but you are right there are some odd boys names too! I have to admit I cringe when I see unusual spellings of names too… I always think why?
I was a shy child so saddling me with such a big name (my real name is the full version) so that the teachers stopped and commented each time they called the register was awful, I wanted to be a Rachel, Rebecca or Sarah and vowed to change it when I turned 18 but then I couldn’t decide on a new name haha!

          1. My ex-wife hated her name so changed it to something else. Then she changed her last name as well by trading me in for a younger model haha.

The name that always gets me is “Norbert” I mean … WHY???
