WWW Wednesday (April 23)

WWW Wednesday green

Hosted by Miz B at Should be Reading
To play along, just answer the following three (3) questions…
• What are you currently reading?
• What did you recently finish reading?
• What do you think you’ll read next?

I am currently reading Quiet Dell by Jayne Anne Phillips who created this labour of love based upon the true life tale of a man who preyed on American ladies in the early 1930’s using the personal columns as a way of making contact.  This is a book of two halves, the first where we meet Asta Eichner and her family, the second where we follow the investigation from the point of view of Emily Thornhill a reporter on The Tribune.

I have just finished Before You Die by Samantha Hayes where DI Lorraine Fisher returns to her home town for a break with her sister only to get involved in what at first sight, appears to be a new spate of suicides.

Before You Die

Next I am going to be reading Keep Your Friends Close by Paula Daly which I’m really looking forward to, after all what would you do if your friend stole your life?

Keep Your Friends Close

Natty and Sean Wainwright are happily married. Rock solid in fact. So when Natty’s oldest friend, Eve Dalladay, appears – just as their daughter collapses on a school trip in France – Natty has no qualms about leaving Eve with Sean to help out at home.
Two weeks later and Natty finds Eve has slotted into family life too well. Natty’s husband has fallen in love with Eve. He’s sorry, he tells her, but their marriage is over.
With no option but to put a brave face on things for the sake of the children, Natty embarks on building a new life for herself.
And then she receives the note.
Eve has done this before, more than once, and with fatal consequences…

What are you reading this week?

  1. Argh, I’m so excited for you to read Keep Your Friends Close. It will be interesting to read your thoughts! 🙂 I hope you have a great reading week!

  2. “Keep your friends close” sounds intriguing. Yes, what would you do? I wonder what Natty did… Hope you’ll enjoy the book. Happy reading!

  3. Hiya…loving this blog post as always. Im currently reading ‘Then and Always’ by Dani Atkins. Its an advanced review copy about a girl with amnesia and how its possible for one person to live two lives. Ive just recently finished ‘Best Kind of Broken’ by Chelsea Fine. I loved this…would defo recommend it. My next one to get stuck into will be ‘Written in the Stars’ by Ali Harris. Hope this helps extend your TBR list. 🙂 Im definately adding Keep Your Friends Close to mine. xo

  4. I’ve just finished Alice Hoffman’s new one ‘The Museum of Extraordinary Things’ which is wonderful. I’d highly recommend.

I read a cracking review of Quiet Dell on Sunday, it hadn’t grabbed me before that but it made it sound fascinating.

    1. That’s really not fair as I have just looked at your review of Enchanted and now your suggesting another one for my TBR 😉
Quiet Dell is a really good read and it has quite an original feel and it has me hooked.

  5. Both the first and third sound interesting and of course I’m just about to read the second. Looking forward to your reviews – my TBR may be in a fit state soon for me to start adding one or two…

    1. I am enjoying Quiet Dell despite there being a couple of elements which would normally be a turn off… and I’m excited to finally get around to the second Paula Daly when the first is still on the TBR (oops)

  6. Quiet Dell sounds good. I’ve just finished Gone Girl and am now reading Gone are the Leaves by Anne Donovan. I am not on a mission to read all novels with ‘Gone’ in the title! 🙂 SD

  7. I almost forgot about Quiet Dell! I have an audio copy. I’ve lived in the Chicago area all my life yet never knew about the true event it’s based on.
