Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
My teaser this week is from Tigers In Red Weather by Liza Klaussmann
Nick and her cousin, Helena, have grown up sharing sultry summer heat, sunbleached boat docks, and midnight gin parties on Martha’s Vineyard in a glorious old family estate known as Tiger House. In the days following the end of the Second World War, the world seems to offer itself up, and the two women are on the cusp of their ‘real lives’: Helena is off to Hollywood and a new marriage, while Nick is heading for a reunion with her own young husband, Hughes, about to return from the war.
Soon the gilt begins to crack. Helena’s husband is not the man he seemed to be, and Hughes has returned from the war distant, his inner light curtained over. On the brink of the 1960s, back at Tiger House, Nick and Helena–with their children, Daisy and Ed–try to recapture that sense of possibility. But when Daisy and Ed discover the victim of a brutal murder, the intrusion of violence causes everything to unravel. The members of the family spin out of their prescribed orbits, secrets come to light, and nothing about their lives will ever be the same.
Brilliantly told from five points of view, with a magical elegance and suspenseful dark longing. Goodreads
My Teaser
To her ear, the name Avery Lewis sounded exactly what he was: some Hollywood wannabe selling insurance and pretending he had dated Lana Turner, or whoever it was he was always going on about.
At least this way I won’t turn into an old maid, mad as a hatter and warts on my nose.
Please share your comments with me.
The synopsis and teaser sound really good to me. How are you enjoying the book?

To be honest I have only read the first bit. It is very different reading about the end of the war from an American perspective as all my previous choices from this time period have been set in England. Really interesting to see another viewpoint 🙂

Doesn’t really sound like my style but I hope you are enjoying it. My teasers this week are from The Chance by Robyn Carr and House of Ivy & Sorrow by Natalie Whipple. Happy reading!

I’ve only just started this one, it is good to read about the attitudes of the characters to the end of the war instead of the UK which is what I usually read.

I swithered over this one way, way back when it was a Vine offering. In the end, I didn’t go for it – so will be intrigued to hear whether I made a mistake…

This is quite a quick one to do but I’d only just started the book this week so the teaser wasn’t up to my usual standards 😉
