Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
My current read is Morning Frost by James Henry due to be published by Bantam Press on November 7, 2013
This is the third prequel written by James Henry to the brilliant original series by R.D. Wingfield.
Blurb
It’s been one of the worst days of Detective Sergeant Jack Frost’s life. He has buried his wife Mary, and must now endure the wake, attended by all of Denton’s finest.
All, that is, apart from DC Sue Clark, who spends the night pursuing a bogus tip-off, before being summoned to the discovery of a human hand. And things get worse. Local entrepreneur Harry Baskin is shot inside his nightclub, fake fivers are being circulated, and a famous painting goes missing.
As the week goes on, a cyclist is found dead in suspicious circumstances, and the more body parts appear. Frost is on the case, but another disaster – one he is entirely unprepared for – is about to strike . . . Goodreads
My Teaser:
Nev Sanderson pointed authoritatively with a large wooden stick. ‘That there is a foot.’
The dog continued to sniff the prominent big toe. Sanderson leaned on his stick and smirked.
Sounds good…this book is the prequel to which series?

Hi Nish, I really enjoy the originals and this set of 3 prequels (this is sadly the last one.) The originals were a set of 6 books written by R.D. Wingfield starting with Frost at Christmas back in 1989.

Something’s afoot. I wonder, if he breaks down, will he give him a tow? hehe sorry.

That was so bad it made me laugh 🙂 I do love the dry humour in these books.

Thank you – another crime novel but I think it’s the first one I’ve read where the only body part is a foot!

Loved the TV series, but was never a fan of the books – mainly because the Jack in the books wasn’t quite as cuddly as David Jason. I’d probably have hated the TV series if I’d read the books first. I’ll be interested to hear what you think of the prequel…

I’d read the books before the TV series but I love David Jason anyway so managed to enjoy that too (which is rare) I liked the first two that Henry James wrote, he’s managed to capture the flavour of R.D. Wingfield’s originals really well (although there was an unfortunate reference to Jimmy Saville in the second one)

Well, I’m intrigued! I also didn’t know there was a tv series…and since I can’t say no to mysteries I will probably end up watching it. Great teaser 🙂

Hi Lizzy, I’m guessing you are not in the UK where this was a really popular series featuring David Jason as Inspector Frost. The books are great as well. Thanks for popping by 🙂

Sounds like a good, suspenseful read. BTW, I think you’ve confused the author of this series JAMES HENRY with the 19th century novelist HENRY JAMES in your blurb. 😉
