Teaser Tuesday (October 29)

Teasing Tuesday CB

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

My teaser this week is from Rubbernecker by Belinda Bauer

Rubbernecker

Blurb

‘The dead can’t speak to us,’ Professor Madoc had said.
But that was a lie.
Sometimes, only an outsider can get to the truth.
Patrick has been on the outside all his life. Thoughtful, but different, infuriating even to his own mother, his life changes when he follows an obsession with death to study anatomy at university.
When he uncovers a crime that everybody else was too close to see, he proves finally that he has been right all along: nothing is exactly as it seems.
And that there have been many more lies closer to home… Goodreads

My Teaser concerns a nurse Tracy

“Tracy nodded in a way she hoped denoted that she, too, was a little bit heartbroken – even though she thought that if her (hypothetical) boyfriend were in a coma for more than a few weeks, she’d probably just cut her losses and move on, not stick around to watch him shit his pants for the next fifty years.
‘And the families,’ said Jean, with a look that said Tracy would soon find out for herself.”

    1. So far so good… I really liked her previous books and this one is shaping up well. I’m being brave and reading two books at the same time, Silent Witnesses is nearly finished (great recommendation thanks) 🙂

      1. Glad you’re liking it! I always read one fiction and one non-fiction at the same time – I can’t cope with just non-fiction. Looking forward to your reviews of both…

  1. Hi Cleo,

I wonder if Tracy is thinking of taking matters into her own hands somehow? Secretly though, I do tend to agree with her general way of thinking.

I have bought several Belinda Bauer books for my dad to read, however he just didn’t get along with them at all. I now have them sat on my own TBR shelves, as I am determined to try them for myself.

I do hope that the storm which battered the South of England on Monday, didn’t affect you too badly. I live in Somerset and whilst many areas saw much damage and flooding, here in Frome, we came away relatively unscathed, although driving in it first thing Monday morning was a little unnerving.

Thank you for stopping by Fiction Books earlier. I love ‘meeting’ new people, so your visits will always be welcome.

    1. Hi Yvonne, well that is my suspicion (and yes I have to admit I can see her point) The previous ones were great and although I haven’t got to far into this one it is shaping up nicely. I live in Jersey C.I. and we were lucky as it wasn’t a high tide and got away without any real damage which was lucky. I love looking at everyone’s blogs and I will be back to see you again soon 🙂
