Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
My Teaser this week is from The Dying Hours by Mark Billingham
It’s been twenty-five years since Tom Thorne last went to work wearing the “Queen’s cloth” but now, having stepped out of line once too often, he’s back in uniform. He’s no longer a detective, and he hates it.
Still struggling to adjust, Thorne becomes convinced that a spate of suicides among the elderly in London are something more sinister. His concerns are dismissed by the Murder Squad he was once part of and he is forced to investigate alone.
Now, unable to trust anybody, Thorne risks losing those closest to him as well as endangering those being targeted by a killer unlike any he has hunted before. A man with nothing to lose and a growing list of victims. A man who appears to have the power to make people take their own lives. Goodreads
My Teaser
If such a gang was plying its trade in a leafier area of the city, where the hoodies came from John Lewis and the dealers had their car stereos tuned to Radio 4, the initials might have stood for Ta-Ta For Now. In Lewisham, they stood for something different.
Tell The Filth Nothing.

Thank you – I do love Mark Billingham’s books and the last book I read I Came to Say Goodbye was brilliant but heart wrenching so I decided on an old favourite.

But with a soupscon of humour which might not translate too well outside the UK. John Lewis is a posh shop and Radio 4 is a serious station.. I love Tom Thorne. thanks for your link too.
